Dove Cameron Tied the Knot, but the Fashion Stole the Show

Your favorite Disney Channel star has gotten married. Most widely recognized for her role as Mal in the Descendants franchise and for her dual lead role in the Disney Channel show “Liv & Maddie,” Dove Cameron was a staple in many viewers' childhoods. This month, Dove and Damiano David, the lead singer of the Italian rock band Måneskin, tied the knot at the Palazzo dei Priori in Tuscany. The three-day celebration consisted of ten looks between the bride and groom, and consisted of custom Giorgio Armani, Alessandro Michele/Valentino, Cavalli, and more. Each look enhanced the appearance and story behind their event, turning the celebration into a blend of romance, personal style, and high-fashion storytelling.
During the three-day celebration, which consisted of a civil ceremony, welcome dinner, official ceremony, and after party, ten wedding looks were shared between the bride and groom. Prior to the weekend, the two held an intimate civil ceremony in the Palazzo dei Priori, the town hall of Montalcino, Tuscany. They arrived together dressed in complementary suits. Damiano, dressed in the Italian luxury brand Guiliva Heritage, wore a double-breasted multi-toned white suit of ivory, parchment, and champagne. Dove, on a similar note, donned a custom Giorgio Armani bridal suit that included an elongated suit jacket, sharp angles, and oversized trousers. The star of the show, though, was the one-shoulder, floor-length cape that trailed through the streets as she walked.
After their ceremony in the town hall, Dove and Damiano invited the guests back to Castiglion del Bosco, a resort in Tuscany. The wedding party hosted a late-night dinner in the underground wine cellar of the hotel, which included drinking, dancing to a live band, and an outfit change for Dove. She exchanged the wide-legged pantsuit and cape for a Blumarine dress, which, although it hasn't received any pictures in its entirety, appears to feature pure white fabric, and long, draped lace quarter-sleeves.
The following Friday, the main event truly began, with guests coming together for a sunset dinner at Castiglion del Bosco's vineyard. The set for the evening included an expansive table featuring gothic details such as dark red tablecloths, candelabras, statues of cherubs, countless flowers and grapes, and other moody incorporations, to which Damiano describes as "Dove's dream table." To this welcome dinner, Damiano wore Valentino by Alessandro Michele, the current creative director of Valentino. This less formal look consisted of yet another shade of white, following the three shades in Damiano's first look. A sand-colored jacket and an ivory shirt complimented navy trousers, accessorized with a wine-red ascot. As Damiano said, "I wanted it to feel special and elegant, but with the natural ease needed to begin the celebrations." For her welcome party look, Dove wore yet another suit by Italian designer Alberta Ferretti, which incorporated flared pants and small lace details at her wrists and bottom of the jacket.
Finally, after two days of dancing and celebration, Dove and Damiano shared their vows at an altar that looked straight out of a fairytale. Cobblestone, archways, and stone steps complimented the calla lilies, white hydrangeas, candles, and the sheer white fabric that draped across the altar. Regarding her dress, and clearly the altar, Dove said, "I wanted a drapey, ethereal vibe, something that would have movement while I walked, but wasn't too much fabric." Valentino and Alessandro Michele brought her vision to life. The gorgeous white silk satin and silk chiffon dress brought elements of a sculpted bust, a complete row of buttons down the back of the dress, and an off-the-shoulder neckline with tulle draped sleeves connected to the sides. Furthermore, inspired by her middle name, Celeste, Dove's veil was the most memorable piece of any look in the entire celebration. The four-meter silk tulle veil was hand-embroidered with stars, constellations, and a moon. She accessorized with Valentino crystal star hair clips, inspired by Christine Daaé from Phantom of the Opera. As Dove puts it, "I wanted something very unique, and they really created an art piece."
Damiano opted for a Giorgio Armani suit made of wool and cashmere. The suit sported a singular button, sharp lapels, a waistcoat, and high waisted pants. For this classic and elegant black suit, Damiano and his stylist Michele Potenza were inspired by an Italian rendition of dandyism. Initially pioneered by Black men, the fashion of the movement involved crisp and precise tailoring, individuality, and a carefully maintained presence. The suit, partnered with Bvlgari cufflinks, a Bvlgari brooch, and an Audemars Piguet watch, created a ceremonial look of elegance and sophistication.
The last event of the celebration, the after party, consisted of final outfit changes for both the bride and groom. For Damiano, menswear designer Zegna created two tuxedo alterations, including a black single-breasted jacket, and a white double-breasted jacket. The trousers and the undershirt stayed consistent throughout both looks, but the jacket exchange allowed Damiano to exercise his personality and fashion forward intent. Lastly, Dove changed into her final look of the evening for the after party, a mini dress designed by Roberto Cavalli. The dress featured off-the-shoulder sleeves, champagne-colored sequins, and numerous other details, including pearl fringe and a lace edged skirt. Paired with lace-up socks and custom Jimmy Choo heels, this look created the perfect end to a fantastical celebration.
Overall, the ten looks that made up this three-day extravaganza contributed to a magical moment, not only for Dove and Damiano, but for a fashion-focused society as well. A perfect blend of romance, self-expression, and high fashion, Dove and Damiano's wedding is one fashion publicists and media won't soon forget.
